With its rich culture, stretches of beach and picture perfect old town, Alicante is the perfect coastal destination for those wanting to balance relaxing in the sun with a city break. The closest beach to the city centre is the Playa del Positguet, although if you're looking for something quieter, there are more sandy stretches to explore a little further afield.
