AmaCerto

The AmaCerto is one of the newer vessels that AmaWaterways has launched, and takes advantage of the innovative Twin Balconies concept that the line is famous for. Serving some of the majestic rivers of Europe including the Rhine, Danube and the waterways of Belgium and the Netherlands, the AmaCerto debuted in May 2012 and takes inspiration from classic yachts that cruise the oceans. This ship is a sister to the more recent Concerto-class AmaPrima, AmaReina and AmaSonata, and continues the line’s innovative features including the grandeur glass elevator and atrium swathed with natural light. Across the four decks, passengers will find a wide range of amenities and facilities that will help to ensure a comfortable, relaxed and refined voyage, including a heated pool with swim-up bar!

Passengers

The AmaCerto has a maximum capacity of 164 passengers. Crew are English-speaking and attentive, and a favourable staff to passenger ratio of 1 to 3.3 means that personalised and relaxed service can be enjoyed. The river cruises on offer tend to appeal to more mature travellers, who have a love of culture, the arts and history, as well as an appreciation for active walking tours and independent exploration. As an American line, cruises onboard the AmaWaterways vessels draw guests from the USA, but are also increasingly popular with passengers from other English-speaking countries, including the UK and Australia, where its partner, APT, markets the line as well.
Customer service is a top priority for AmaWaterways, with feedback being taken seriously on every single voyage, so that improvements can be made where needed, as soon as possible.

Dining

The ship offers a range of dining options to suit all preferences, including the main restaurant on the Cello deck, where normal breakfast and lunch buffets, and a sit-down dinner menu, are served daily. AmaWaterways is the only river cruise that is part of the Chaine des Rotisseurs gastronomic association, so guests can look forward to some gourmet culinary creations that contribute to unforgettable fine dining experiences.
There is also a Chef’s Restaurant, and Al Fresco dining terrace. Lunch can occasionally be enjoyed on the Sun Deck, when the weather permits. Free-flowing local wines can be enjoyed with dinner, and there is a 24hour tea/coffee station for guests to use.
Dress code is casual and comfortable, but guests often choose to dress up for the Captain’s Dinner – a special event which occurs once per cruise.

Entertainment

Guests can mingle with fellow passengers in one of the onboard lounges, with a choice of Observation Lounge and the Main Lounge and Bar areas. Sip pre-dinner cocktails, or enjoy post-dinner refreshments with subtle piano music in the background, or head to one of the outdoor terraces or sun deck to watch the sun sink below the horizon.
The main lounge has a bar, piano and dancefloor for guests to enjoy every evening, but the program of evening entertainment, including regional acts popping onboard for performances, is a major highlight of the day, and perfectly complements the daily excursions.

Activities

Onboard, guests will find an extensive range of facilities for their pleasure. The Sun Deck offers a heated swimming pool with ‘swim-up’ bar and whirlpool, perfect for a relaxing afternoon. There is also a walking track, ideal for a leisurely stroll. All staterooms benefit from complimentary internet and Wi-Fi, with an exciting infotainment system built into the flatscreen TV. This includes internet access, plenty of movies on-demand (new releases and classic), travel videos, English-language satellite TV channels and music stations.

As with other river cruises, the main draw for a voyage on the AmaCerto are the shore excursions that are included in the fare price. There’s a choice of complimentary ‘small group shore excursions’ delivered by expert local guides. Immerse yourself in the local history, traditions, culture and customs by joining one of three groups – ‘gentle walkers’ for those who fancy exploring at a slower pace, ‘active walkers’ who wish to pick up the pace and explore a little further, and ‘late starter’ if you want to spend a little more time relaxing onboard and having a lie-in. There’s also a fleet of bicycles onboard (including helmets), for those who wish to explore the countryside and ports independently.

Accommodation

All staterooms are outside, with a view. Most of the spacious staterooms and suites onboard include the innovative Twin Balconies concept, or a French balcony. While rooms on Piano deck (160 sq. ft.) have fixed picture windows. All rooms are decorated beautifully, and finished to a very high standard.
