Although some of the land stay hotels (Stay and Cruise holidays) may have a dress code (long trousers in the evening), one of the beauties of being on Ocean Village is that you can wear what you want.
So forget the ball gowns and dinner jackets, casual wear is always fine. All they ask is that you cover-up when eating or drinking inside the cafés, bars and restaurants. The only place where you may want to dress up a bit on board is in the James Martin Bistro, where things are more smart casual and you may want to push the boat out for those special occasions.
Ocean Villages "Action Ashore" booklet will be sent to you in plenty of time ahead of your sailing date, you'll find details of all the shore excursion activities available and advice on specific things you may want to take with you.
It's a good idea to bring comfortable walking shoes plus sports gear if you're going to join one of the many sporting activities (e.g. mountain biking, walking, golf etc) and shoes you don't mind getting wet in, if you are doing a water based shore program.
You'll also find details on the need to wear clothes that cover shoulders and legs if you're planning to visit any religious buildings.
Let's get something straight. Timetables are for trains, not for dining. So if you fancy dinner at midnight or breakfast approaching midday, that's fine by us.
In keeping with the whole easy-going Ocean Village philosophy, when and where you eat - and who with - is entirely your call. That's why we serve a mouth-watering array of delicious food 24/7. And just as we don't believe in set meal times or fixed seating plans, we don't believe in formal dress codes either - so you can leave the tuxedo and tiara at home.
The Plantation
The Plantation restaurant features evening buffet dining with an Asian and Oriental theme, with dishes such as green Thai curry, noodles, stir-fries and Indian feasts with all the trimmings. If that’s not enough, you’ll also find a range of dishes with a different International or European theme each day.
The Waterfront
You’ll find scrumptious daily buffets in The Waterfront restaurant, the largest restaurant on each ship. Enjoy luxury continental and full English breakfasts, salads and hot speciality dishes of the day at lunch and daily themed buffets in the evenings. It has a mainly British theme, and you can also select items from the carvery which changes daily.
Pull up a chair and enjoy British traditional favourites like roast beef and Mediterranean dishes such as paella, moussaka and seafood provençale.
La Luna
At La Luna you can dine by the pool and under the stars, with waiters serving dishes such as steaks, pasta and ‘fish of the day’. An extra charge applies at La Luna in the evening (up to £10 per person cover charge plus an extra charge for some optional dishes) and booking is recommended.
Charlie's
Charlie’s is an informal, relaxed café culture environment, next to the Cyber café, and is the ideal place to unwind with a Costa coffee. It serves a selection of hot and cold drinks as well as offering a traditional bar menu. With a choice of paninis, sandwiches, muffins, chocolates, sweet and savoury croissants, cookies and cakes, you definitely won’t leave with an empty stomach!
James Martin's Bistro
Book a table at The Bistro and give your taste buds a real treat, its perfect for a special dinner or a big night out with friends or family.
Try the sweet, earthy flavours of pumpkin ravioli with sage and tomato butter or grilled field mushrooms topped with rarebit and ratatouille chutney. Prefer your puds? Savour luscious pineapple tarte tatin with black pepper caramel or sinfully rich chocolate and raspberry tart with white chocolate ice cream. With food like this, reservations are required and there is an extra charge – but hey for under £20 per person, aren’t you worth it?
