Ocean Village3* Berlitz Rating

Ocean Village was created by P&O to offer cruises to those who “Don’t do Cruising.” In reality many people are put off cruising, thinking, wrongly, that it is all about dressing up and having formal meals. Ocean Village is all about fun and enjoyment in a relaxed dressed down atmosphere. That is not to say that it’s all shorts and bare chests. Some limitations of dress code are in place; after all you are in what is considered to be a 3* floating Hotel.

Having expanded in 2007, two ships are now on offer, the aptly named Ocean Village and Ocean Village 2. During the summer they offer cruises for either 7 or 14 nights from Palma or Heraklion, transferring for the winter months to Jamaica and Barbados to offer Caribbean Cruises.

Ocean Village is no ordinary cruise; in fact the advertising slogan is “The cruise for people who don’t do cruises.” Informal and easy going, its new, innovative and contemporary features and younger, more casual and relaxed style of cruising appeals to the thirty-to-fifty somethings who want to explore new places without the formality of traditional cruises. Since its launch, Ocean Village has grown in popularity amongst British cruisers, first time and repeat travellers, families and couples alike.

Ocean Village was joined by Ocean Village 2 in April 2007 and they are widely regarded as the best equipped ships in their class, with 50% more personal space than comparable ships.

Ocean Village combines action and relaxation. You could choose to go abseiling, river rafting, jeep safaris, kite-surfing, or just make your own way round the Mediterranean or a Caribbean Island on one of the ships own mountain bikes.

Ocean Village and Ocean Village 2 are floating resorts packed with restaurants, bars, cafes, pools and shops combined with a very relaxed and informal atmosphere, so there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Ocean Village 2 is based in Palma in the summer and cruises around many of the top Western Mediterranean ports then sails over to Barbados in the winter where it spends the winter months cruising around the Caribbean islands. Ocean Village (the ship) is based in Heraklion in the summer offering cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean. For the winter months she sails to Jamaica for Caribbean based itineraries.

Wherever you choose to cruise, in the Mediterranean or Caribbean, the choice is 7 or 14 night cruises or 14 night stay and cruise (seven nights at a four star hotel followed by a seven night cruise). With so many options Ocean Village offers some of the best value cruising around.
