SINGLES CRUISE HOLIDAY
A Cruise for Single Guests is a Perfect Choice
Singles cruises offers a safe way to travel the world and a social environment in which to meet people and make new friends. And should you wish to, there are always lots of organised activities and social events onboard to keep you busy night and day, including organised singles cruise cocktail parties and dining.
Singles cruises mean different things to different people; typically there are three different types of singles cruises that are provided by the cruise lines:-
- Are you a Single Traveller looking for an affordable way to travel alone?
- Are you Single in search of fun and/or romance in the company of other Singles?
- Are you a Single Parent travelling with children?
You are free to book a Singles cruise on any ship or sailing date by paying the normal Single Supplement rate. These supplements are charges added to the cruise fare for you to occupy a double-occupancy cabin alone. Typically, most single supplements are 150% to 200% of the lowest per person price available at the time you book the cruise. In other words, if the double occupancy rate for two people in a cabin is £800 per person for a seven night cruise, it can be £1,200 to £1,600 for a single person to travel in their own private cabin.
The rationale for the supplement is the fixed availability on every sailing date is based on two persons sharing a cabin. Sometimes, the cruise line will offer a special promotional opportunity whereby the single supplement will be reduced or waived altogether and this option usually becomes available at short notice.
Singles Cruise Cabins Onboard a Cruise Ship
Offered by only a few cruise lines, most notably Fred Olsen, Cruise and Maritime Voyages, Thomson Cruises and Costa Cruises. Single cabins are specifically designated to be occupied by one person and may help you avoid the single cruise supplement.
Other cruise lines do set aside a limited number of twin cabins for single use at a supplement to the normal one person fare, on certain itineraries. There are also cabin share programmes that will pair you with a traveller of the same sex to share a twin cabin.
Single Cruises for Parents
The value of a cruise holiday is particularly evident among single parents. Cruises are multi-generational and offer a number of activities for all age groups. More and more single parents, particularly those who have set holiday schedules are turning to cruises as a way to spend the most quality time with their children. No cooking, cleaning or looking for things to do. It's all there for you including children's programmes and evening babysitting.
There are no single only cruises as yet but younger and fun seeking cruisers might prefer larger ships with cruise lines like Royal Caribbean International, Princess Cruises or P&O Cruises.
More mature cruisers might be interested in the lines that provide gentlemen hosts for dancing and conversation, namely Fred Olsen and Celebrity Cruises.
