The Big Island. The Orchid Isle. The Volcano Island. You'd expect a place that has inspired so many descriptive nicknames to be a land of rare beauty and wonder. Such is the island of Hawaii. Its 4,050 square miles are home to the snow-capped, 14,000-foot peaks of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, the fiery landscape of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, vast macadamia nut plantations, black-sand beaches, orchid-filled forests and luxury resorts. Hilo is this island's capital. Explore the wonders of Kilauea Volcano up close on a walk through Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. You'll be amazed by the incredible beauty and power of this active volcano.
Honolulu
Hawaii Cruise to Honolulu (Oahu) and Famous Waikki Beach
Pearl Harbour and the Arizona Memorial are the most popular destinations in Oahu where you can see the moving tributes to this important historic event and experience the serenity of the Punchbowl National Cemetery. Oahu is also home to the world-famous beaches of Waikiki and spectacular 'Diamond Head', a 761 foot tall 'lava creation'.
Kailua-Kona
Hawaii Cruise to Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook Chose A Stunning Place to Sleep with the Fishes
Located along Hawaii's western shore, where the slopes of Mauna Loa and Hualalai meet the sea, the Kona Coast is an area of endless lava fields and golden sunsets. The clear waters are perfect for snorkelling and at the centre of the Kona Coast lies the charming village of Kailua. Kealakekua Bay, where Captain James Cook died, is one of the best snorkelling spots on the island. The area is a state park and conservation site, teeming with undersea life.
Kona
Hawaii Cruise to Kona, Sip Tasty Coffee and Watch the Magnificent Sunsets
"Sleepy Kona," as it's usually called, lies on the western side of the island of Hawaii - perfect for magnificent sunsets. Kona's main attraction is sports-fishing and the Mokuaikuau Church, the oldest in Hawaii. Also important is the King Kamehameha I Heiau (Hulihee Palace) which is now a museum and was once a summer residence of royalty and the 12th-century Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park; a "Place of Refuge", once a sanctuary where taboo-breakers could receive ritual purification. You can also see Kaupulehu Cave and the small white monument near Napoopoo marking the spot where Captain Cook died. The only coffee grown commercially in the U.S. is grown in Hawaii, and the best of the Hawaiian coffees comes from the Kona district.
Lahaina
Hawaii Cruise to Lahaina and It's 10,000 Foot Volcano
Here you can explore the old whaling town of Lahaina and the nearby West Maui Mountains and Haleakala National Park with its 10,000 foot dormant volcano crater. At 10,023 feet above sea level, you'll have unparalleled views across the island.
Mount Kilauea
Hawaii Cruise to Mount Kilauea, One of the World's Most Spectacular and Active Volcanoes
Typically, one's instinct would be to run from a volcanic eruption. In this case, however, that would be a mistake. Romantic and mysterious, Kilauea is both one of the most spectacular and most active volcanoes in the world. Since 1998, the island has grown 560 acres, leading some to marvel at its ability to create rather than destroy. What is unquestionable is its beauty. Pack a camera, Kilauea's landscape will foster daydreams for a lifetime.
Nawiliwili
Hawaii Cruise Nawiliwili (Kauai), the "Garden Isle" Offers a Cruisers Paradise
The fourth largest and oldest island in the Hawaiian group, Kauai is known as the "Garden Isle" simply due to its incredible lushness. Kauai's terrain ranges from the volcanic slopes of Mt. Waialeale and the desert-like beauty of Waimea Canyon to the Wailua River's lush Fern Grotto. Explore Kauai from its lush green valleys, cascading waterfalls and geological wonders, such as the dramatic NĂ£ Pali Coastline. The natural beauty doesn't stop at the shoreline, the Garden Isle's white-sand beaches and aquamarine waters are showstoppers as well. Mark Twain described the geological wonder of Waimea Canyon as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." A natural amphitheater covered with lush tropical growth, it's a stunning venue for weddings, often performed here in Fern grotto. Ancient Hawaiians believed that the vocal blowhole of Spouting Horn was the angry roar of the lizard goddess Kaikapu. The breathtaking scenery is a favourite with filmmakers and well known pictures such as 'South Pacific' and 'Jurassic Park' have been filmed here.
