The Panama Canal is a marvel of man-made ingenuity. Upon its completion the world's two great oceans were joined together and a maritime route sought after for centuries was created. For cruise passengers, these are likely to be the most exciting 8 hours ever spent on board a ship. From the moment the ship enters the set of locks until its release into another ocean, the voyage is momentous, not only for the beautiful tropical rainforests that can be seen and enjoyed while underway but for the historic journey the canal represents.

Panama Canal cruises typically depart from the Caribbean, calling at one or two Caribbean islands before entering the canal and ending in the West Coast, USA. Reverse itineraries are available and ‘partial transits’ of the canal, turning in the Gatun Lake, are a popular alternative.
