Cruise Ship Entertainment

21 Feb 2018 | by Carrie Garner

It goes without saying that with all the new features being introduced onboard cruise ships each year, you will never be bored on a cruise. Even if you’re someone who gets bored easily, there is always something else to do. From water parks and zip lines, to spas and theatres, you’re sure to find something to suit you.

Theatre

Broadway-style shows are one of the most popular kinds of onboard entertainment. Many cruise lines spend a lot of time, energy, and of course a considerable price tag in order to be able to present their guests with some world-class theatre. Specifically, Royal Caribbean boasts the likes of We Will Rock You, Hairspray, and Cats, and Norwegian Cruise Line proudly present the fabulous Rock of Ages. Cunard put on some fantastic productions courtesy of playwrights including Shakespeare, and sometimes, they enlist the theatrical talents of students studying at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) or the budding dramatists from British schools.

Enrichment Programmes

Many cruise lines place a significant emphasis on education and improving oneself. Cunard are known for being the first cruise line to have a planetarium onboard, which is narrated by actors like Tom Hanks and Robert Redford, allowing you to watch the stars shoot by while you sail. They also often have important public figures onboard, to give lectures and presentations to guests. Princess Cruises are also committed to providing various opportunities for enrichment and destination immersion. Their North to Alaska Programme is particularly exceptional, offering unique experiences such as lumberjack demonstrations and ‘Cook my Catch.’

Family Entertainment

There are plenty of cruise lines who are adept at keeping both children and adults amused. Disney Cruise Line, for instance, is a wonderful option for anyone who enjoys Disney movies. They let off the best fireworks at sea for guests to enjoy from places all over the ship, and character meet and greet experiences are an excellent way to delight the kids. As well as this, the ships have plenty of adult only spaces available for a little escapism, where entertainment choices include trivia quizzes, game shows, and even a scavenger hunt. Carnival Cruises are another superb option for family cruising. Their Dr Suess themed waterpark, play areas, and even character breakfasts will keep little cruisers, teenagers, and adults entertained for hours.

Themed Cruises

Those with specific interests can often find fabulous cruising itineraries which combine their hobbies and their holiday. Cruise lines like MSC Cruises and Celebrity Cruises also offer Formula 1 packages, which are fantastic for anyone interested in motorsport.
