Deaf & Hard of Hearing
There have been many technological advances developed to assist cruising for the deaf or hard of hearing. Many cruise lines have made every attempt to employ them wherever and whenever possible, in many instances providing Sign Language interpreters upon request.
Some of the features you can expect to find or request at time of booking would include:
- TTY (Text Telephone)/TDD (Telecommunication Device for the Deaf), interfaces with the Guest Relations Desk
- Alertmaster and a strobe alarm with under-mattress or under-pillow vibrator
- Amplified telephones are available in the cabins and public areas
- Sign language interpreters provided upon request
- Closed-captioned televisions provided upon request
Before inquiring about a cruise, please obtain your doctor's permission to travel.
Then please contact us and one of our cruise specialists will call you back free of charge to discuss your indivdual requirements. We'll help you choose a cruise that provides the accommodations and services necessary to meet your needs.
After you have booked your cruise, the cruise line may ask you and your doctor to complete medical release forms. We'll work with the cruise line on your behalf to make sure they are aware of your requirements and get any additional information necessary to assist you in planning and preparing for your trip.
