Cruising to Grand Cayman

The largest of the Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman is home to the territory’s capital George Town. Here, tucked away in the Caribbean, visitors will find everything you’d expect - paradise beaches, sparkling waters and coves sheltering all manner of hidden treasures. At Cayman Brac, you’ll find stunning flora and fauna in all directions.

The Bluff is the highest point of this British overseas territory and is a patch of forest known for its stunning bird life - including Cuban Amazons, white-crowned pigeons and thick-billed vireos, among other species.

Amid all this dramatic scenery, the human settlements are small and modest. Even George Town is made up of fewer than 30,000 people. With such a small population, it may be surprising how much wealth is on display here - that is, until you come to appreciate its role as one of the major tax havens for US companies. In fact, it is estimated that nearly $1.5 trillion (£890 billion) is held here.

Like most parts of the Caribbean, Grand Cayman is particularly popular among divers and those wishing to explore the ocean depths will be spoiled for choice, with plenty to see amid this aquatic seascape.
