Things to do

Activities, excursions and adventures are endless when sailing across the Indian Ocean. From diving, snorkelling and surfing for those that love to be in the water to ultimate levels of relaxation on postcard perfect beaches and dedicated local wellness spa’s. Market tours, wildlife spotting, shopping, hiking and high flying adventures are all possible from this grand oceanic utopia.

Some of our favourite excursions to enjoy from the Indian Ocean are:

Desert Dune Adventure – Dubai – Experience this rare action packed adventure, bounding over golden sand dunes across the vast Arabian Desert via a modern four wheel drive vehicle.
Sunset in Singapore – Catch the magical sunset over this captivating city, where the skyline is as diverse as the melting pot mix of cultures that call it home.
Game Viewing in KwaZulu Natal – South Africa – Make the most of a cruise exploring the south east coast of South Africa by travelling inland for game viewing and the chance to capture some stunning holiday snaps.

Weather

With such a contrast in countries surrounding the warm Indian Ocean waters, it’s only natural that the best time to go would depend on your destination of choice and the type of holiday you are hoping to have.

If sailing to Mumbai and Goa, the west coast of India experiences warm weather year round, but aim for October-May to avoid heavy downpours and tropical storms if you’re hoping for some outdoor activities.

Head to Western Australia from the end of August as their winter fades and makes way for an enticing Australian summertime. From January onwards temperatures can really soar so you might want to aim for either side of peak summertime for a comfortable summer holiday. You’ll see year round sunshine in Perth as this city is known to be one of the sunniest in the world. Pack plenty of sun-cream and wear a hat to protect from strong sun rays.

Dry season for the Seychelles is May – October whilst July – November is a popular time to visit the East Coast of Africa for game viewing.

Special Events

Diwali – October or November – Diwali also known as the festival of light is a sight to behold in India. Witness fireworks, fire dances, streets adorned with candles and lanterns during this colourful and spectacular five day festival.

Chinese New Year - the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month of the Chinese calendar – Experience the effect of Chinese New Year in Singapore as the city comes alive for this fantastic 15 day festival. Dance amongst the locals to traditional music and indulge in the incredible selection of street food specially laid on for the event.
