MS Excellence Queen

MS Excellence Queen

As one of Travelmarvel’s ‘Excellence’ ships, alongside its sister the MS Excellence Rhone, the MS Excellence Queen was bound to provide excellence at every turn since its inauguration in 2015. From the delicious cuisine and Insider Experiences programme to the luxurious staterooms and premium facilities, the MS Excellence offers relaxation and enrichment from start to finish.
With itineraries that encompass both the Rhine and Rhone rivers, and sometimes beyond, the MS Excellence allows guests to soak up some of the most enchanting regions of Europe from the vantage point of a modern, boutique ship.

The Excellence Queen can accommodate a maximum of 142 people, which means that guests onboard can enjoy friendly, relaxed hospitality while also having plenty of opportunity to mingle with like-minded travellers.
Typically, guests onboard hail from Australia and New Zealand, but more and more British travellers are finding the itineraries and excellent standard of river travel appealing. Most are well-travelled, affluent and have a passion for learning more about local culture, history and traditions.

The main restaurant situated on the Middle Deck, with its glossy wood interiors and panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, is the main dining venue onboard. Serving mouth-watering dishes, prepared from fresh local produce, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, guests can enjoy top quality fare throughout the voyage. Dinner is a five-course a la carte menu, served by professional, attentive waiters.
A range of drinks are available to complement every meal, with soft drinks, beers and local wines included with lunch and dinner. Complimentary hot beverages including tea and coffee are available 24-hours a day.

The contemporary lounge onboard benefits from a full-service bar that offers a wide range of fine drinks to enjoy after-dinner, while soaking up the scenery from the panoramic windows and immersing yourself in the evening entertainment. Local performers are often invited onboard to showcase some regional music and traditions, or you could enjoy a quiet drink in the glassed-in Sky Lounge on the Sun Deck if you’re hoping for a relaxing evening.
Guests onboard can break the ice and mingle at the Captain’s welcome reception, and the gala dinner is highly anticipated, and takes place towards the end of every cruise.

The Insider Experiences programme that is available as part of all Travelmarvel itineraries ensures that guests can maximise their river cruise by absorbing the history, culture and local traditions of the regions they visit. Passengers can enjoy an extensive choice of guided tours and sightseeing opportunities, as well as independent exploration as they see fit. The onboard Cruise Director can help you to plan your time wisely, and expert local guides can ensure your sightseeing is as informative as possible.
Onboard, there is a library where you can lose yourself in a book, or you could plan the additional activities you wish to participate in, such as black forest cake demonstrations in the heart of the Black Forest region.

There are 70 staterooms and one spacious Owners Suite onboard, spread across eight categories ranging in size between 140 sq. ft. and 323 sq. ft. Staterooms are split according to size and outside view, from 140 sq. ft. window staterooms and 161 sq. ft. standard French balcony staterooms to 183 sq. ft. French balcony suites. All have been beautifully decorated and feature high-end amenities to ensure complete comfort and relaxation. Amenities include a large private bathroom, comfortable beds with luxurious bedding, all-weather French balconies, flatscreen TV, minibar and in-room safe.

The Sun Deck is a perfect place to unwind and soak up the sun while enjoying the gorgeous river views, and there is a fitness room situated on the Lower Deck if you’d prefer to maintain a more active routine.

The MS Excellence Queen currently offers a number of Rhone, Rhine and Moselle-based itineraries, including the popular and all-encompassing 18 day ‘Splendours of the Rhine and Rhone’ which travels between Paris and Arles. This tour begins with a land stay in Paris before flying to Amsterdam where you board the MS Excellence Queen for seven nights before joining the MS Excellent Rhone in Basel. During the voyage, guests can enjoy visits to cities and towns including Utrecht, Bonn, Heidelberg, Breisach and Lyon. There are also planned trips to Viviers, Avignon and the Camargue National Reserve which is one of Europe’s largest wetlands.
