With its narrow streets and pleasant squares and fountains, Toulon is a typical Mediterranean city, with a little gem to make it stand out from the crowd: a mile away from the city is the Téléphérique du Mont Faron, a cable car which takes passengers up almost 600 metres above sea level to enjoy breath-taking views out over the ocean. If it's the sea you're looking to enjoy, Mourillon and its four sandy beaches are the perfect place to top up your tan and enjoy some authentic French cuisine at one of the bars or restaurants lining the seafront.
