Travelmarvel Sapphire

Travelmarvel Sapphire

Built in 2006 and renamed in 2015, the Travelmarvel Sapphire joined a fleet of elegant and super-stylish river cruise ships that sail along some of Europe’s stunning waterways. With her sisters – the Diamond and the Jewel – the Sapphire delivers luxury and indulgence, at unbelievable value for money.
Most of your river cruise experience will be all-inclusive, with sightseeing tours, port charges and gratuities included in the ticket price. So all you have to worry about is enjoying your time onboard, which won’t be difficult on the Sapphire.

Passengers

At full capacity (164 passengers) the staff to passenger ratio is 1 to 4, which means guests can enjoy friendly, personalised service that will help to provide a positive experience aboard the Sapphire. As an Australian river cruise provider, the majority of Travelmarvel passengers are from Australia and New Zealand. However, the brand does market its cruises at other English-speaking holidaymakers, particularly those from the UK. Guests tend to be 45+, well-travelled and appreciative of the enriching and unforgettable experiences that a river cruise onboard the Sapphire can provide.

Dining

The main restaurant, which can be found on the Danube Deck, offers a variety of cuisine choices including regional fare that guests can enjoy as part of the four-course dinner. A Full English is available among the breakfast choices and there’s also a late supper option. The Rhine Deck bar and lounge areas are perfect for downtime during the day if you’re opting out of a shore excursion, and would also be an ideal place for a relaxing drink after dinner where you can enjoy the onboard entertainment. The Sun Deck hosts occasional barbecues (weather permitting).
Dress code is predominantly smart casual. There are some opportunities for semi-formal attire, particularly for the Captain’s Dinner, where a jacket and tie are requested.
Coffee and tea are complimentary, and available throughout the day. Local beers, wine and soft drinks are served with lunch and dinner, free of charge. Complimentary bottled water is also available.

Entertainment

The Sapphire offers guests a daily entertainment programme, which includes music, dancing, folklore and lectures by experts in their field. Most of these enriching activities are specific to the cruising region, so that guests can learn more about local traditions, customs and culture.

Activities

The Travelmarvel Sapphire, as with other members of the fleet, offers her guests Insider Experiences. These allow passengers to ‘live like a local’ through unique excursions. Delve into the local culture and customs and appreciate some exclusive activities and private tours. There are also Small Group Shore Excursions on offer, led by expert tour guides. The cost of tours and entrance fees, plus tips, are all included.
Alternatively, explore the ports independently with complimentary use of bicycles and Nordic walking sticks. The ship is Internet-ready, with a full Wi-Fi service that can help guests to connect with loved ones back home.

Accommodation

There are 80 staterooms and two suites, situated across the ship. All vary in size and amenities, depending on the category of room a guest chooses. The Moselle Window Stateroom (147 sq. ft.) is the smallest of rooms and can be found on the Moselle Deck. These staterooms are equipped with porthole windows, and are furnished to a high standard with all the amenities you could need for a comfortable stay, including a deluxe queen size bed, desk, vanity unit with hairdryer, fully-stocked mini-bar, bathroom with shower and a flat-screen TV.
The majority of rooms onboard are French Balcony suites (154 sq. ft.), which can be found on both the Danube and Rhine decks. These spacious rooms benefit from the same amenities as the staterooms, but also offer a French balcony to allow guests to enjoy the fresh air and river breeze from the comfort of their room. The two Owners Suites on the Rhine Deck complete the accommodation choices, and offer a huge 232 sq. ft. of space, French balconies, deluxe queen size bed, sitting area, full-size bathroom with large shower, and the same amenities as the other accommodation options.

Spa/Wellbeing

The Sapphire provides a spacious Sun Deck, with sun chairs and loungers, and sun shade systems which can be used for brighter days. You will also find a salon on board and a well-equipped fitness centre.

Itineraries

Book a holiday onboard the Travelmarvel Sapphire and you can cruise along the Main, Danube and Rhine between Amsterdam and Budapest. A popular 15 day itinerary takes in Bonn, Wertheim, Wurzburg, Bamberg, Vienna and more, passing castles, palaces and World Heritage-listed cities on the way. Cruise through the Rhine Gorge and along the magical Danube and enjoy the excursions that are all included in the ticket price.
