As the metaphoric flag bearer for Viking Cruises, the Viking Star is a far cry from the many longboats in their fleet. This 930-passenger liner is a fully-equipped investment designed to simulate as much of their Viking River experience as possible.
With over 460 staterooms fitted with flat-screen LCD TVs, beds with luxury linens, complimentary Wi-Fi and movies on-demand, and many other benefits, everyone on board is sure to feel like a Viking chief at all times.
Passengers have a selection of two restaurants on board, The Restaurant, and World Café. The Restaurant is the ship’s prime eatery, a room with outstanding elegance and quality while still retaining a warm and comfortable atmosphere. It covers the two bottommost decks with the main part having seating for more than 200 passengers and the bottom level seats an additional 40 people, as well as being the location of the two private dining rooms, Manfredi’s Italian Grill, and the Chef’s Table – an all-exclusive VIP table.
During the day, passengers can sit back and relax in the World Café on deck 7, where they can get their hands on the many cultural dishes on offer. Other places that you can relax in are the two lounges situated on deck 7, the Explorers’ Lounge and the extravagant Wintergarden. The Explorers’ Lounge is a two-floor haven of relaxation where travellers can converse in a wonderful environment with a prime view of the ship’s bow. Here you can enjoy a selection of craft beers with a delicious meal from Karine’s Deli.
On the other hand, for those who wish to have a more peaceful and serene experience, you can visit the Wintergarden which has been carefully crafted in a Scandinavian design and offers promises of fine tea ceremonies and pastries.
The main entertainment on board is its live performances in the Theatre along with the two cinemas, making sure to always give classical entertainment for any customer. On the screen, there will not only be familiar films, but many destination-driven productions that are sure to surprise you.
There is also the option of the two pools or hot tubs for those who are looking to be a little more active. There are also many opportunities at each port to visit local landmarks and locations, all with the help of expert guides.
Of course, for the best and most relaxing experience, the ship is equipped with a large spa, situated on the deck 1. Keeping with its Nordic origins, the Viking spa adopts aspects of culture such as a snow grotto and traditional Nordic sauna.
Next to the spa is also a fitness centre for the healthy individuals and a specialised salon for those looking to touch up and reinvigorate themselves.
