Toulon, France

Cruising to Toulon (for St. Tropez)

During the summer months, you would be forgiven for thinking that the British have colonised Toulon. A historical centre, constructed in the Middle Ages, still bears the narrow little streets characteristic of the era, and it's very charming to explore.

The same can be said for the new part of town as well, where you'll find the Place de la Liberté, one of the main squares. In the winter, you'll find a picturesque Christmas market here, as well as a skating rink.

Of the places of interest worth checking out, the cable car is a must-visit. Stretching from Mont Faron Hill to the Memorial Museum of Landing in Provence, it offers quite spectacular views. If all that fails, you can always head along to the beach and join the British holidaymakers.
